About Grid
Learn more about our mission, values, and the people behind the app.
Our Mission
We built Grid because we wanted a location sharing app for our own families that wasn't quietly selling everyone's data on the side.
Grid is end-to-end encrypted, so your location stays between you and the people you share it with. We don't have access to it on our servers, and there are no ads in the app.
The mobile app is open source. You can read the code, fork it, or run your own server.
Who We Are
We have backgrounds in defense, intelligence, and cybersecurity. We've spent years building systems where leaking the wrong byte ends a career.
We're applying the same instincts to consumer location sharing.
Why Grid
You decide who sees your location and for how long. Your data is encrypted on your phone, never stored long-term, and never sold.
Use it with your family, your hiking group, your moto crew, whoever. The app doesn't care, and neither do we, because we can't see any of it.
Most location apps make money on your data. We make money on an optional $5 satellite-maps add-on.
